Question:
This is my
story and I really need some advice, I have been applying for job after job
with no success, I have been doing many amaals including tahajjud for the last
few months but I feel like something is blocking my dua. I am losing hope and
on the verge of giving up dua and the tahajjud.
Please give me some motivation and help me to understand why this is happening.
Answer:
We, as Muslims, are required to resort to the guidance and teachings of Shariah at every junction of life. Life is full of trials and tribulations. Our purpose of coming to this Dunya is also a test as mentioned in the Holy Quran.
“Glorious is the One in whose hand is the Kingdom (of the whole universe), and He is powerful over everything, (1) the One who created death and life, so that He may test you as to which of you is better in his deeds. And He is the All-Mighty, the Most-Forgiving,”
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, our mentor and master, has also taught the Ummah that the problems and difficulties that we are faced with are not a punishment for us; rather, it is a means of rewards and elevation of stages in the Hereafter.
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said:
"ما يصيب المسلم من نصب ولا وصب ولا هم ولا حزن ولا أذى ولا غم، حتى الشوكة يشاكها إلا كفر الله بها من خطاياه"
"Never a believer is stricken with a discomfort, an illness, an anxiety, a grief or mental worry or even the pricking of a thorn but Allah will expiate his sins on account of his patience".37
A Sahabi Radhiallahu Anhu enquired: "O Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam! Which of the people is tried and tested most severely?" Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam replied:
"The Prophets, then those nearest to them, then those nearest to them. A man is tried according to his religion; if he is firm in his religion, then his trials are more severe, and if he is frail in his religion, then he is tried according to the religion he has. The servant shall continue to be tried until he is left walking upon the earth without any sins."
From above, it is quite clear that a believer is tried and tested according to his capacity; however, if one exercises patience and thereafter thanks Allah Ta'aala for all the bounties that he is drowning in at every given moment, he will be highly rewarded and gain proximity to Allah . Moreover, if this Dunya, hypothetically, would have been free of problems, Jannah (paradise)
would have lost its value. Therefore, we advise you to exercise patience and be grateful to Allah Ta'aala for all the bounties that you are presently enjoying, and keep praying and please Allah Ta'aala unconditionally; Insha’Allah, very soon Allah Ta'aala will ease matters for you. Together with this, have hope and do not be disheartened and lose hope, for, verily, non-believers become despondent in the mercy of Allah Ta'aala.
Hereunder are a few supplications and actions that will, Insha’Allah, help you in this regard.
Duas:
Firstly, remain steadfast on the good actions that you are performing at the moment, for it is highly appreciated and praiseworthy in the court of Allah Ta'aala. Leaving them, on the other hand, is condemned in the Holy Quran.
“And among men there is one who worships Allah (standing) on the verge: so, if some good thing happens to him, he is satisfied with it, and if a trial befalls him, he turns his face back. He loses both this world and the Hereafter. That is the manifest loss. 22:11”
Perform every Salah with congregation and Takbeer e Oola(first takbeer); thereafter, recite Surah Fatiha and Aayat ul Kursi (surah1: verse255) three times and make Dua for your wellbeing and betterment.i
Exercise Taqwa (piety: which simply means obey the commandments of Shariah and refrain from contravening them); for, verily, whoever adopts Taqwa, Allah Ta'aala will make a way out for him.
“That is what anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day is exhorted to do. Whoever fears Allah, He brings forth a way out for him and provides him (with what he needs) from where he does not even imagine. And whoever places his trust in Allah, He is sufficient for him. Surely Allah is to accomplish His purpose. Allah has set a measure for everything.”
Do not lose hope and please Allah Ta'aala. Eventually, ease will come as Allah Ta'aala mentions in the Holy Quran: Verily, with every difficulty there is ease.
"فَإِنََّ مَعَ الْعُسِْْ يسًُْْا - 94:5 إِنََّ مَعَ الْعُسِْْ يسًُْْا - 94:6 "
“So, undoubtedly, along with the hardship there is ease. Undoubtedly, along with the hardship there is ease.”
We make Dua to Allah Ta'aala to ease the conditions for you and grant you Halal sustenance.
AND ALLAH TA'AALA ALONE IN HIS INFINITE KNOWLEDGE KNOWS BEST
