Question: 

A lady took an oath (wallahi) that she will not talk to or have anything to do with this person. The intention she had was that she will never speak, meet up or message the other person.

Then she messaged the person

Is her oath broken or not? And will she have to do kaffarah? 

Answer: 

In the enquired scenario, due to breaching an oath, she will be obliged to expiate for it. Kaffarat ul Yameen (the expiation for breaching an oath) is to feed 10 needy people two meals (it is also permitted to give the amount of Sadaqat ul Fitr to 10 needy people and this will cover up for the two meals which would otherwise have been necessary), or clothe 10 destitute people. If one doesn’t have the financial capablility to fulfill any of the above expiations, he/she should fast for 3 consecutive days.i
