Games that are neither an exclusive symbol of the disbelievers, nor involve gambling, nor do they busy one from fulfilling the aspects and obligations of deen, nor go against shariah or the ethics of a believer are permissible otherwise not. Games and sports that are physically beneficial will not only be permissible but commendable. (Fataawa Mahmudiyyah Vol. 19 Pg. 538 Faruqiyyah). The same conditions will apply in investing. It will be makrooh (disliked) in the case of games like pool/snooker as these are a waste of time. We have been forbidden from wasting our time.
