is a sunnah to perform the nawaafil and sunan at home. It has been mentioned in many narrations that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam exhorted one to perform these at home and did so himself. Many benefits are derived from this devotion. Among these are that through barakah of salaah the home becomes filled with barakah and noor, the members of the household will learn salah and gain courage to perform it. It should be noted that this is on condition one does not fear that some activities will occupy him from performing them. If there is fear and possibility of one getting occupied, for such person it will be better to read in the masjid.i A few ahadeeth with this regard are as follows:

Hazrat Ibn Umar radhiallahu anhu narrates that Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said perform prayers in your homes and do not make it a cemetery. i.e. do not make the house like a cemetery where salaah is not performed.
