Question:

I
have been helping a foreigner by paying for his telkom contract

He paid me upfront for 2 years.

The contract is expiring in December and telkom wants me to renew.

Will it be permissible for me to make a profit from him monthly?

The contract is R139 monthly but can I tell him R199?

Also they are giving a pocket router in the package

Can I keep this or do I need to give it to him?

Answer:

You are simply acting as a Wakeel (representative) on behalf of the foreigner by getting him the contract and then by paying the monthly subscriptions on his behalf with his funds. He is simply using your name as he would most probably not qualify for the said contract as a foreigner due to not possessing the required documentation. As a Wakeel (representative) it is not permissible for you to make any profits when acting on behalf of the Muwakkil (the individual that appointed you to act on his behalf). Similarly, you will have to pass over all benefits / items received from Telkom to him and will not be entitled to keep anything for your benefit without his consent.

And Allah Ta'aala knows best!
