Question:

For the girl to have/host a Walimah, is it connected to any part of Deen (eg. Permissible, Sunnah, etc.)?
Is it permissible to attend such a function or should one abstain from it?
Did Nabi Sallalllahu Alaihi Wasallam say anything with regard to this (Walimah of a girl)?
Should we encourage towards such functions or should we advise people to abstain from such gatherings?

Answer:
Walimah refers to the feast from the boy’s side on the day after the Nikaah has been consummated or after the couple have at least spent some time in absolute privacy with each other. (Fataawa Hindiyyah Vol. 5 Pg. 342). We learn from the various Ahaadeeth of Nabi Sallallahu Aaihi Wasallam that the Sunnah is that Walimah should be from the boy’s side and not from the girl’s side. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam himself invited the Sahabah (radhiallahu anhum) for his Walimah at the time of his blessed Nikaah and also encouraged the Sahabah (radhiallahu anhum) to do so. Consider the following narrations:
Hadhrat Anas Radhiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullaah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam invited the Sahabah (radhiallahu anhum)for his Walimah when he got married to Hadhrat Zainab Radhiallahu Anha. (Bukhari Vol. 2 Pg. 776)
Another narration also states that Rasulullaah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam told Hadhrat Abdur-Rahmaan bin ‘Aowf Radhiallahu Anhu to carry out the blessed Sunnah of Walimah even though it may be just a single goat. (Bukhari Vol. 2 Pg. 776)
From the above, we gather that Walimah hosted from the girl’s side is not a Sunnah, as it does not fall under the ambit of the Sharíe definition of Walimah. Such Walimahs should thus be discouraged.
