Question: 

If for some reason the imams salaah was rendered invalid and later the musallies were informed to repeat that salaah, does this effect the count of those performing 40 salaah with takbeer e oolah ?

Answer: 

Inshallah this will not affect the count of those who are performing forty Salaah with Takbir- e-oola. Nabi sallallahu alaihi wasallam is reported to have said: “Whoever performs Wudhoo, and performs it well, and then he leaves (for the Masjid), but finds that the people have already completed their prayer. Allah will grant him the same reward as those who have prayed it in congregation, his reward will not be any less than them.”iii From this Hadith, we understand that the person who, despite trying his utmost to join the congregation, still misses it due to some reason which was beyond his control, his reward will still be equal to those who were in the congregation. Similarly, in this case the Salaah became invalid due to a reason beyond his control, so we have firm hope that Allah Ta’aala will accept his effort and grant him the full reward.
