Question:
In
a Madrasah:
(1) if a student breaks a rule of the Madrassah then as a punishment can he be
made (forced) to pay a fine.
(2) If the student misses Salah in the madrasah then can he be made to pay a
fine as a punishment. For example, for every namaz a student misses he will be
liable to a £2.00 fine.
(3) If this penalty is permissible then can this money be used by the Madrasah.

Answer:
According to Fataawa Mahmoodiyya it is incorrect to impose a monetary fine for breaking any rule or law of Shariah. Monetary penalties were found at one stage but later on abrogated, hence monetary compensation must not be implemented for breaking Madrasah rules or for missing Salaah.
