Question:

I
suffer from blood clotting on my legs. I tried hakim medicines for a long time
but the sickness just got worse. I went to a homeopath. I am on the treatment
for about about 6 weeks. There is a big difference in my condition and I am
feeling much better , Alhamdulillah. However, yesterday when I went to check up
what the medicine is made of, I was shocked to find it was made of the venom of
the viper snake! Also, they say its diluted in alcohol and the amount of the
venom can be extremely little.

I wanted to know if it is halaal to take such a medicine because of the venom
and the alcohol content.

Answer:

If there isn’t any Halaal alternative available to treat the illness and the medication has been prescribed by a Muslim doctor then it will be permissible to utilise the medication in question. The added condition is that queries should be made and it should be concluded that the medicine is not harmful.
