Animate objects

Question: 

Does shariah regard the capturing of images of animate objects as impermissible or the displaying of them or both of the above?

Please clarify which of the following is permissible and which is not:

1) painting a face of a human using paint

2) watching animated cartoons

3) using emojis when messaging 

4) using security cameras which records movement in a secure estate

5 ) displaying websites and using applications that one is 99% sure will display human images(such as instagram)

Butterflies on clothing

Question: 

I would like to know what is the ruling regarding butterflies on children's clothing and other items. Is it permissible or not? 


Answer: 

Primarily, Shariah prohibits every kind of animate picture; however, if it is so tiny that it is indistinguishable for a person who looks at it while standing, it will be allowed to wear such clothes; otherwise, not.i

Taking photos of animals and selling photos

Question: 

Is taking photos of animals allowed? Is the income earned from taking photos of animals allowed? 

Answer: 
1. It is not permissible to take pictures of any animate objects. (Shaami Vol. 1 Pg. 650) 
2. The income earned from such pictures will not be Ḥalāl. (Kifaayatul Mufti Vol. 9 Pg. 423)
