Question:

A person passed away leaving behind a wife, 3 sons and 3 daughters. How will his estate be distributed?

Answer:
After discharging the burial expenses, debts (if any), and execution of the Wasiyyah/bequest from 1/3 of the estate, the estate will be divided into 72 portions as follows:

Wife - Shares - 12.50%
Son 1 - 14 Shares - 19.44%
Son 2 - 14 Shares - 19.44%
Son 3 - 14 Shares - 19.44%
Daughter 1 - Shares - 9.72%
Daughter 2 - Shares - 9.72%
Daughter 3 - Shares - 9.72%
Total - 72 Shares - 99.98%
As you may have noticed, there is a remainder of 0.02% due to the difficulty of rounding off numbers. This amount may either be given in charity if there are no immature heirs or redistributed amongst all heirs accordingly to the above percentages.
NOTE: The above distribution is based on the fact that there are no other heirs beside the ones mentioned above. However, if there are any other heirs, the estate will be distributed differently.
